THE ROOF, THE ROOF, THE ROOF IS ON FIRE

how was everyone's holiday weekend? mine was pretty good. we had friends over saturday for a cookout and a few much needed drinks. l started singin this rhyme....starple starple little twink....none of us can remember the rest of it. damn. ill have to have her tell us again. i got burned, bad. so sunday was mostly recuperation. if u ask me my shins still look a lil too red/purple. eh. monday we cooked out again, t put new shocks on his car and hoochiemama came over. us girls were chillin on the front porch when t comes home and says whats goin? i saw a bunch of black smoke clear across town. to which i reply...what?! i dont know. and so he shows us.....no shit u could c this huge cloud of black smoke pouring out from somewhere behind our house. hmmm. this is about 330pm. well ofcourse the fire trucks start rollin thru. but the longer we're hangin out the more trucks keep flyin by. from all different area fire houses mind u.
we have to take a short break in the story here so i can explain something. awhile back we watched a comic, and part of their bit was that when white ppl here sirens they run towards it to check shit out while black ppl hear sirens and run away as fast as they can. with that in mind we can continue the story........

so the more i keep seeing all these trucks my curiosity got the best of me. t finally said fuck it, get in the car and ill take u over there. all the while teasing me that i was so "white" that i couldnt keep my curiosity under control. :D anyhooo....we drive towards the smoke and realize that 1. we weren't the only ones checkin it out. most of the town had set up shop around the area to watch. yes, i said watch. they even brought their kids with em! "hey kids, get ur shoes on. we're gonna go watch death and destruction!! woohoo!!"---seein the kids there was a lil disturbing. also seeing how true that comic was was amusing and ironic. i told t and darcy that all we needed was a fuckin vendor selling bratwurst and pepsi and then it would b a streetfair. and 2. it seemed that the fire had started in some storage sheds and then jumped to the factory that butted up with the sheds. the firefighters also looked like they were havin a hard time "controling" the fire---ie....not enough water, help, know-how, etc.

with curiosity fed we left. i noted to t and darcy that we should definitely try to becareful b/c if us or anyone else in the town had an emergency or fire we would just die---cause all the fire trucks we had were over at the factory. pfft! the next day i read the article in our paper about this fire........they indeed did not have enough water nor enough pressure comin from the fire hydrant to handle the demand. yes many trucks responded to the call---mvfd, elmwood fd, centerburg, utica, homer, st.louisville, fredericktown, east knox. firefighters were there until 3am that nite. there's an estimated 1.5 mil worth of damage done based on a walk thru only. and last but not least.....they believe 2 "juveniles" may be responsible and have been questioning them.

the paper quoted a supervisor or some employee from the factory basically saying that he tried to tell the FD how to put the fire out but that they didnt listen and thats y the fire jumped from the storage sheds to the plant. HA! it woulda been funny if he had added that the FD not listening really burns his ass. hehehe.
